South Whidbey Commons strives to hire, train, and retain outstanding employees fully capable of carrying out the organization's goals and objectives. We will make a continuous effort to develop, implement, and interpret sound employee policies and practices. SWC recognizes that its ability to provide excellent products and service, as well as a great experience for trainees, is dependent upon its employees. It will, therefore, strive to provide a work climate and values the will encourage optimum employee contributions, excellent service, and commensurate rewards.

For the Youth and Their Future

  • Team Building

SWC creates an environment for our local youth where they can build social and teamwork skills in a safe work environment, preparing them for social success in the real-world of employment, including conflict resolution, constructive problem-solving, working hierarchy, and developing work environment friendships.

  • Responsibility Building

The demands of the workplace can be a shock to our local youth in their first job. SWC introduces them to the responsibilities and rigors of work with supportive direction. Something a first-job employer may not afford.

  • Skills Building

SWC develops functional skills in our trainees, specific to the food service industry (a common first-job of students). We train them in virtually everything, including cleaning, knife and cooking skills, barista-ing, customer service, and money handling.
